From Los Angeles, now residing in Kanagawa.

Just a hobbyist, E spends more time researching gear and taking photos than any reasonable person probably should. Other obsessions include cars and snowboarding.

As a kid, E had a small HP digital camera, but photography didn’t really stick back then. The interest came later. After moving to Japan, a trip to Osaka became the turning point, E realized his Android’s camera was painfully inadequate for what he wanted to capture. After some online research, he bought a Nikon D3500 for casual travel photography.

In 2021, a close friend introduced him to film photography, which led to the purchase of an Olympus XB3 from a recycle shop in Tokyo.

Then, in 2024, while traveling in Vietnam, E was asked to take a photo for another friend using their inherited Nikon F3. The feel of of the F3 changed everything. After returning to Japan, he picked up a Nikon F3 of his own and dove deep into photography, accumulating more gear and more knowledge.

Today, E is destitute, but at least he has another hobby to obsess over instead of fulfilling life’s responsibilities and adulting.
